recompilling compiz

sometime your compiz not working propperly after upgrading
first install unity

sudo apt-install unity

Then execute this command

unity –reset

It will reset the profiles in compiz and everything should work as expected on a default behaviour.

Then you can run compiz with:

compiz –replace

you may add the command to startup application 😉

convert video on ubuntu

Hi Guys,

in this morning, I received a movie clip from my friend,. but I completely confuse, how to transfer that file to my phone, my device just 240×200 in resolution, and the file too bigger for my device, so I try to googling research for converting file in Linux machine

and I found ffmpeg, simple, and very easy

first you must download the apt

# sudo apt-get install ffmpeg

then convert your video 🙂

# ffmpeg -i <source_video_file> -s 240x200 <destination_video_file>

changing port tomcat

Hi Guys

last week, i’ve installing multiple tomcat in my server

sometimes I get this message after start tomcat

SEVERE: Error initializing endpoint
java.net.BindException: Address already in use:8080

first, check on your $CATALINA_HOME/conf/server.xml

change

<connector port:8080

to

<connector port:8083

if you running in multiple catalina service, I am suggest to you to create new shell script and include different $CATALINE_HOME and $CATALINA_BASE into it

create jira shell script

Hi Guys

in this session,. i’ll show to you how to create a shell script for start/stop/restart jira

create shell script

# nano /path_yours/jira.sh

and enter this line

 #!/bin/bash
 # JIRA startup script
 # chkconfig: 2345 64 36
 # description: A really sweet issue tracker from Atlassian
JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20"
 JRE_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20"
 RUN_AS_USER=root
 CATALINA_HOME=/atlassian-jira-4.3.4-standalone
start() {
 echo "Starting JIRA: "
 if [ "x$USER" != "x$RUN_AS_USER" ]; then
 su - $RUN_AS_USER -c "$CATALINA_HOME/bin/startup.sh"
 else
 $CATALINA_HOME/bin/startup.sh
 fi
 echo "done."
 }
 stop() {
 echo "Shutting down JIRA: "
 if [ "x$USER" != "x$RUN_AS_USER" ]; then
 su - $RUN_AS_USER -c "$CATALINA_HOME/bin/shutdown.sh"
 else
 $CATALINA_HOME/bin/shutdown.sh
 fi
 echo "done."
 }
case "$1" in
 start)
 start
 ;;
 stop)
 stop
 ;;
 restart)
 stop
 sleep 10
 #echo "Hard killing any remaining threads.."
 #kill -9 `cat $CATALINA_HOME/work/catalina.pid`
 start
 ;;
 *)
 echo "Usage: $0 {start|stop|restart}"
 esac
exit 0

go to your path and then execute the line

./jira.sh start
